“Dirt Road”

Travelling along the long dusty road

Day after day, two children at my side

Look at him beyond

Husband and Father

A useless man

Once a home and job for him

Depression came

How quick the Factory closed

We tried to survive as best we could

A Husband, a Father a drunk

Here we are

Dirt Roads we walk

Two Children by my side

A Wedding Ring I still do wear

What it means now I do not care

From job to job

From shack to shack

Children need to rest their heads

Serving drinks is what I do

Take what wages each week I earn

Hide some for food for my Sons

The bruises I carry well they show

The Father drinks whats left

On the Road we walk

From job to job

From shack to shack

Two Children by my side

Alone am I

But we will cope

And fight our way

To a better Home
