POETRY AND CLASSICAL MUSIC TO START THE WEEKEND

FOR THE PAIN TO SUBSIDE

How long does it take

for the pain to subside

that pain of love

no one except those

that have been betrayed

will understand

Man or Woman

what order does not matter

both feel the dagger

that goes through the heart

Feelings of hatred

feelings of love

so confused

I hate him

do I

it won’t last

I think of you

all the time

your face

your body

that once were mine

I thought I knew you

I know I did

the moments of sublime happiness

the nights I would cry

No other man

could ever come close

to the love in my heart

when I think of you

Like the dreaming Spires of Oxford

that feeling one gets

of falling in love at first sight

I shall always love you

I hope you won’t forget

=====================================================================

I do not love you except because I love you,

I go from loving to not loving you,

From waiting to not waiting for you

My heart moves from cold to fire.

I love you only because it’s you the only one I love;

I hate you deeply, and hating you

Bend to you, and the measure of my changing love for you

Is that I do not see you but love you blindly.

Maybe January light will consume

my heart with its cruel

Ray, stealing my key to true calm.

In this part of the story I am the one who

Dies, the only one, and I will die of love because I love you,

Because I love you, Love, in fire and blood.

By Pablo Neruda    –    1904  –  1973

The time will come

when, with elation

you will greet yourself arriving

at your own door, in your own mirror

and each will smile at the other’s welcome.

and say, sit here.  Eat.

You will love again the stranger who was your self.

give wine.  Give Bread.  Give back your heart

to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored

for another, who knows you by heart.

Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,

peel your own image from the mirrors

Sit, Feast on your life.

Bt  Derek Walcott    –  1930  –  2017

IN AND OUT OF LOVE

In and out of Love you fell

exalted that for a short time you were loved

gifts that you gave

gifts hoping for deeper love

but not to be

used again and again

Tears will flow

broken hearted once more

painful deep, way  down

you need love you need care

but still the search

the search for that one love

will forever or maybe not go on

If only you could have seen

there was a deep love

it was there

and still is

look beyond

Now do you see

no more searching

reach out you have already found it

you must be pleased

no more searching

no gifts needed

just love

TAKE FOR GRANTED

How we take for granted

all those little things

that were so normal

and that gave such pleasure

Not shopping, I’m not a shopper

but going to Museums

entering the world of Galleries

and sitting and enjoying

the world of Art and sculptures

of history and science

and so much more

Rushing to the Theatre

breathing in the atmoshphere

seeing actors perfom on stage

I had only dreamt about

How we took for granted

all that gave such pleasure

now can only hope one day

that pleasure will return

Dreams that once nearly came true

of different land of all I wanted

of all I had hoped to see and feel

now all I can do is hope and hope and hope

Of strolls in Parks

and rushing to catch the Train

of Cities and their beauty

etched in my memory

never going back

How it was all taken for granted

climbing the stairs

like climbing a hill

where once I would run

now I can only shuffle

How I took for granted

the World beyond the gate

to face the challenge

of life beyond the gate

can I…………………………………………
