NOVEMBER REMEMBRANCE WEEK – FOUR YOUNG MEN

Fly, Fly, Flying high

way above in the Sky

over the White Cliffs of Dover

They flew from their homeland

late at night

over the White Cliffs of Dover

and out to sea

They tried not to think of home

they had a job to do

yes it could mean death

but they were flying for their Country

Flack soon hit them

then the guns firing at them

as they headed into land

they guts all twisted by nerves

Bob flying the plane

Alex his co pilot

Jim Navigator

Ben Air Gunner

Four young men

fighting to save their Country

thinking of home

thinking of their loved ones

“Target approaching”

calls out Jim

“get ready to drop her”

Bob calls back

“Hit skip hit”

shouts Ben

“go see he’s alright Alex”

says an anxious Bob

Four young men

preparing to drop their bombs

no time to think of the deaths below

its Our Country or theirs

Four young men

open the hatch let them go” says Bob

Alex returns

“Ben’s hit in the arm he’ll be alright”

Jim says as he settled back as co pilot

“Lets go home chaps asap”

Bob shouts to the crew

they smile glad to be returning

flack still flies around them

bullets avoiding them

Four young men

from Great Britain

returning home

White Cliffs of Dover in sight

soon they will be back

They fly until they reach home

land safely at North Weald Airfield

another mission completed
