GENTLE FALLING LEAVES LIKE POPPIES – 11 am 11th NOVEMBER 1918 – THE GUNS FELL SILENT – REMEMBER

Greens and browns

mixed with bright yellows

the leaves fall gently

like soft raindrops

Autumn sunshine

through the trees

as if walking in deep Woodland

gently the leaves just fall

one by one it seems

The ground scattered

with  bright colours

continuous falling leaves

like the Poppies fall

on Remembrance Sunday

Remember all those Dead

those that gave their lives

for us to live

Fifteen years of age some were children

dressed as Soldiers

wounded and dying

calling for their Mothers

Blood drops on the ground

like the soft leaves that fall

but these are not children

these are men not leaves

but people

See them there no marked Graves

see the colours of the leaves

see the Blood soaked lands

Remember Remember

those that sacrificed their lives

for You for I

we owe them a debt

that can never be repaid

Like the soft leaves that fall

this Autumn afternoon

it hurts when there are those

that disrespect our Armed Forces

To all those that protect us

my mind and body

supports Our Lads

Our Armed Forces

WE MUST NEVER FORGET  –    REMEMBER TODAY AND ALWAYS THE SACRIFICES MADE FOR US TO LIVE IN FREEDOM
