“AND IN THE MORNING WE WILL REMEMBER THEM”

Was this to be the last he would remember

his Mother’s arms wrapped around him

holding him closely to her bosom

not wanting to let him go

His Mother’s tender kisses

upon his forehead

her gentle words

“I Love You My Son”

Was this to be the end

he felt his chest it was wet

his hand was red and warm

“where am I, Mother where are you”

He had closed his eyes

upon opening them

there She stood in front of him

that warm smile that tender kiss

“Mother” he cried

he was in her arms once more

“I am here my Son with you”

her tender kisses upon his cheeks

he knew now he was safe

safe and not alone

The Last Post   –  Always upon hearing this I am brought to tears.
